The middle class has been shrinking in the American society for the past 20 to thirty years, this has been a gradual and slow process which lacked to attract the attention of society until a few years back. Trade agreements and outsourcing of jobs have left our country with fewer blue collar jobs and has led to the constant shift of jobs to other countries by big corporations.
Lack of higher paying jobs and stagnation of the federal minimum income has led to the shrinking of the middle class as people find it hard to survive on meager earnings. Inflation has slowly and consistently risen and the pay of the common man has not increased which puts the average worker in the workforce in a state of vulnerability.
